Window 7 PC has Problem Accessing files on the NAS
I have two PC's running Windows XP and a NAS connected to a network. I have had no problem accessing data stored on the NAS from either PC until this week after I clean installed Windows 7 32bit Home Premium on one of the PC. Both PC's are up to date. The NAS was updated to the latest software for Windows 7. The PC running XP can still access data on the NAS. Now the PC running Windows 7 has problems accessing the data I have stored on the NAS. As an example: In opening a picture file some pictures are shown, there are only descriptions, and/or icons. Some files all the pictures are shown. Some times I can not preview a picture. Some times I can not copy a picture file to the Windows 7 PC. Once in a picture file I can not switch back one frame with out getting an error message after about a minute " This connection has not been restored". I click OK and then I can click back one frame. This not only happens to picture files but to all files I have backed up on the NAS Early on I got an error message " The remote procedure call failed and did not execute". I found a fix:"in services.msc make both Remote procedure entries are started and set to Automatic" I was then able to access the NAS from the Windows 7 PC, but after restarting the PC I was again unable to access the NAS. How can I get Windows 7 Pc to safely access the NAS? I want to do this before I install Windows 7 on the other PC. Should I go back to XP??

What is the model of the NAS? I suspect that this is a compatibility issue. You may boot into Safe Mode with Networking. If it does not work, I suggest you contact the support of the NAS manufacturer and confirm if the NAS is compatible with Windows 7.Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
