Window 7 Home Pro NAS storage seen as Media Device only
Thank you but it was a no go...I get this error code and I tried twice...the "diagnose" button couldn't find the problem with the network either. ERROR CODE 0x80070043 The network name cannot be found I see the OpenShare as a drive in explorer under computer however it does not show up on the network tab in explorer. Still is only a damn media device and when I go into the LaCie and unchecked the multi-media service which disables Twonky the drive goes away altogether. LaCie tech support was no help as they can't fix a windows problem. You said.... "For this to work you have to have a folder, or the whole drive shared in the NAS. Note: The media thing works by Upnp" I have this drive set up in Raid 1...would that affect what I am doing??

Hi, Does the issue occur on all computers? I suggest you directly connect it to your computer as a removable drive. You could check what it displays in explorer. I notice that there are three shares by default that can be accessed using LaCie Net..work Assistant: Open Share, USB Share, My Share. LaCie Network Space MAX introduction: http://www.lacie.com/support/support_manifest.htm?id=10491 Also, I suggest you map it in the explorer: 1. On the explorer bar, chose "map network drive" 2. Type \\192.168.X.X\documents (something that represents your situation of course) 3. Click on "log on with different credentials" 4. In the next dialog type username and password of the NAS. For this to work you have to have a folder, or the whole drive shared in the NAS. Note: The media thing works by Upnp. Here is a similar discussion can be referred to. Hope that helps

We have installed a LaCie Network Space Max on our home LAN. (Cisco e3000 router) Have gone through everything we can but when viewing the LaCie in explorer on the network tab it is always seen as a Media player and not a NAS drive or computer. We have tried everything we can think of to try in all kinds of settings, searched Google, you name it. We need this to show up as a NAS drive not a media player! There is no settings in the LaCie software that affect this, we tried that. Why does it only show as a media player???
