Window 7 Black Screen Help!
Hi, so i have been having the same problem "black screen of death" or something like that. First of all I have no idea how it happens so I was playing a game and I had to shower so I left the game open. After when i am done the computer was shutting down and I have no idea why. I open up and everything was normal but there was a window update. So I click what it says and right after that I have Black Screen. All my pictures, folders and programs got delete on the screen. I checked the "Program Files" some program was there and some were not. Mostly My picture got delete and I don't know what to do. I still have internet connection. So I need help or I am going to be in a big trouble. Thanks -Bowie

Simplest fix: use a restore point. Sounds like you need an external backup drive. It may be the best $100 you'll ever spend.

If I use the restore point would it restore all files? Because the main point is I wanted to get the files back. And do I use restore point or I need external backup drive or both?

And do I use restore point or I need external backup drive or both? A restore point is what System Restore creates. Please note the word "System" in that name. It restores the operating system, not your data files. System Restore is not a substitute for backup of your data. So you still need to do your own backup (and backing up to an external drive is an excellent way to do it). I recommend doing backup and using System Restore, because restoring from a restore point is very often a quick and easy way to recover from a problem. Ken Blake, Microsoft MVP

An external backup drive is a physical drive. You can buy one at almost any computer products store, or at almost any web-based store like Amazon.com Ken Blake, Microsoft MVP
