Window 7 & Cisco VPN client v5.0.06.0160
I have recently upgraded my Home Office network monitoring PC to Windows 7 Pro... previous was XP ProI had a problem getting the Vista compatible version ov Cisco VPN client working so I downloaded teh latest version from Cisco (5.0.06.0160)It works perfectly and logs on to the Router almost as quickly as in XP.Initially I can do Browse requests and RDP sessions using the URLs with Hostnames my Office devices - i.e. DNS resolution works and queries the DNS at the office end of the VPN.After about 2 to 3 hours the DNS resolution fails and I have to revert to using the specific IP addresses...This is OK except for CITRIX ICA Client which also is prevented from finding Citrx farm...Reboot the Windows 7 PC and re-connect the VPN and its back for another 2-3 hours...All "Internet" DNS resolution carries on fine...Could this be the Cisco Client or a setting in Windows 7?

Well I can't answer your question, but would like to ask you one that will likely come up. Do you have 32 bit or 64 bit loaded?

32 bit Win 7.Dos Ping stops resolving the host names but nslookup seems to already be pointed at teh DNS at the far end and resolves..can't think of anything else to try..tried turning off Windows firewall - no changeTried Home Vs Work networking settings - no difference.I havent got any other diagnostic tools installed on it yet to packet trace the DNS requests...

i ran into problems with the vpn. It was fixed by a patch that has to be installed before the vpn software. Wish i could remember which one. Try googling cisco vpn window 7 patch. the file is dneupdate.msi. i found it via google. Also you can try http://www.shrew.net/home. This is an open source vpn client that works with cisco plus you can use it on 64bit if needed
