Window 7, IE & FireFox unable to access the internet, but have internet connected.
I have an HP laptop with Window 7, and I am able to connect to the internet, I can ping to www.yahoo.com, I can run window updates, and the MS security essensals can run updates. BUT when I run IE it can not connect to the internet. I have reset IE to defaults and I have gone to tools, internet opitons, connections, Lan Setting and check the "Automatically detect setting". and it will still not connect to the internet. The laptop had norton antivires, but I uninstalled it and installed MS Security essencials. I have also tried disabling the firewall, but IE still will not connect. I have also tried installing firefox, and firefox will NOT connect to the internet. Any clues, as to what may be causing the problem ?

Run the Norton Clean Tool. Remove the checkmark from "Automatically detect setting". Then reboot the computer. Uninstall Firefox and remove all. Reboot and reinstall FireFox, but don't import anything. You can import later. Try connecting with FireFox and see what happens, before importing.
