Windos explorer memory leak?
Hi,since i have installed Windows 7 (Build 7100 - downloaded May 10th from microsoft site) i face a strange issueafter working for sometime windows explorer don't show on the leftall the items and if doubleclick one of the items shown then the green bar on top starts to grow and nothing happens. The workaround for this is to log-off and log-on or restart (during these actions there is a screen that something has to be closed but cannot see it, is shown very fast). My pc has 4GB of memory, Q6600 cpu, ASUS P5K premium board and using Raid 0 with 2 x 360 Seagate HDDs.When windows explorer works okhttp://img29.imageshack.us/img29/1845/explorergood.jpghttp://img269.imageshack.us/img269/1904/explorergood2.jpgWhen windows explorer is having problemhttp://img198.imageshack.us/img198/9538/explorerbad.jpghttp://img30.imageshack.us/img30/319/explorerbad2.jpgAny ideas please ?

I have experienced the same problem as well. This article (http://www.computerworld.com/action/article.do?command=viewArticleBasic&articleId=9063060) may provide you with some help (it seems to have solved my problem after I remove the offending files). Hope this will be useful.

Hm...unfortunately, I was wrong. The problem still seems to exist...I will try to see if other solutions are available.

I might have reached the previous conclusion too quickly. I removed a few more files and the problem did seem to have gone away... see if it helps you as well.

The article http://www.computerworld.com/action/article.do?command=viewArticleBasic&articleId=9063060 explains it but really doesn't give much help other than fixing the icon cache.I have seen it happen in Vista with slow network access. I just saw it hang like this for over half an hour before producing a popup saying the network locationwasn't available. This should have been fixed in Windows 7/Server 08 R2.
