Win XP Running slow
My pc has been running slow for a while now. I've finely decided to speed it up. On a web site I read that a good way to find problems is to go into msconfig and hide all the Microsoft files and them disable all the other files in Startup. This I've done and it seems to have solved the problem (Win takes about 3 mins to load). Beside my Anti Virus files what files should I make sure I put back? Is there a programme that I can download which will help with this process? Also can you tell me what I should have in my regisitry as I sure that its full of junk? Thanks1 person got this answerI do too

What you choose to start with Windows is entirely up to you. The fact is, there are no shortcuts to learning how to use a computer. You can choose to be among the savvy computer users, who never seem to have serious trouble with their computers, or you can choose to be among the fast-answer crowd. To learn the meaning of each startup item in the Startup tab of the System Configuration Utility, do what we do: start with a web search. You should only edit the registry if you know /exactly/ what you're doing, and then only after making a backup.
