Win XP Home SP3 adds computer name to user name in NAS login dialogue.
I need to find out how to stop Win XP SP3 from adding the computer's name as part of the user name login for NAS access.NAS has password protected share called "Mark". Computer is called: "Acer".On all other computers on the workgroup (all running XP SP3 Pro and Home), when I log onto the NAS, I enter my user name "Mark" and the appropriate "password" and I'm in.On this particular machine, when I type in my user name and password and click "OK", the User name field has been changed to "Acer\Mark" and as a result, the NAS won't recognize the name as an acceptable user name. How do I stop this computer from adding the "Acer\" part to the user name?OR:How do I work around this another way? I've tried setting up a user on the NAS called "Acer\Mark" but it won't allow the usage of the "\" as part of the user name.Anyone?Thanks,Mark1 person needs an answerI do too
