Hi 1. Specify an IP for every computer (192.168.2 and onwards, the router should be 192.168.1.1) and set the gateway to the router's IP and a DNS of your choice2. Set a password for the username on XP3. Share something on the XP machine4. Try inputting in the adress bar of the explorer \\192.168.1.2 (or the IP you set for your XP computer)

Steve, Have you had any other luck to solve your problem other than to enter IP addresses directly? I am having the same problem. All machines are on the same workgroup, but the Vista machines will not play with the XP ones on a name resolution basis. If I enter the IP address, I have no problem, but I would rather the Vista computer be smart enough to see names/IP addresses (as XP machines do) rather than for me to have to access my router to see the address assigned to various machines on net.
