Win Updates Error 8024402F
I have tried updating my time server. The time is right the time server is internal. I have deleted SoftwareDistribution\DataStore and SoftwareDownload. Neither of these helped. I have turned off the firewall and that also didn't help. This is a Win 7 Pro 64bit machine. Other machines on the network are working with updates. What can I do to fix this?

Greetings Milos 1.) One help article suggested that if the time from the NTP wasn't updating correctly that I could get this error. Mine is updating correctly. So I was just stating the things I have tried. The time solution is mentioned in the link you sent me. I haven't tried setting to Proxy, but we don't have a proxy. Any other ideas? I am seeing this in WindowsUpdate.log file: 2012-06-17 04:42:36:364 1036 f94 Misc WARNING: DownloadFileInternal failed for http://download.windowsupdate.com/v9/windowsupdate/redir/muv4wuredir.cab: error 0x80072ee2 2012-06-17 04:42:36:364 1036 f94 Misc Validating signature for C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\WuRedir\9482F4B4-E343-43B6-B170-9A65BC822C77\muv4wuredir.cab: 2012-06-17 04:42:36:376 1036 f94 Misc Microsoft signed: Yes 2012-06-17 04:43:21:173 1036 f94 Misc WARNING: Send failed with hr = 80072ee2. 2012-06-17 04:43:21:173 1036 f94 Misc WARNING: SendRequest failed with hr = 80072ee2. Does that help identify the problem?

I've tried uninstalling the network card, rebooting. Issuing: netsh winsock reset and rebooting. It seems on the initial windows update attempt after doing one of those I always get a different error code. However, if I attempt twice it goes back to "old faithful" 8024402F. I honestly don't know what else to try on that machine.

I have bypassed our corporate firewall on that machine by using a verizon mifi and a wireless card and updates worked. So apparently something has changed in the firewall that is causing this issue. If I find the solution I will try to post back.

The solution, apparently was to add the following: Download.windowsupdate.comWindowsupdate.microsoft.comUpdate.microsoft.com As allowed domains--bypassing content filtering on the corp. firewall.
