Win 7 trashed my XP 64x drive
I installed win 7 on a spare drive for beta testing purposes. My primary drive has XP 64x and all my licensed software. After installing the beta software I searched the XP drive from win7 WinExplorer for some plug-ins to add to the beta setup. Win 7 indexed the XP drive and it immediately became unbootable. The first message was that pci.sys was missing. I tried to restore that program but failed to fix the problem. I then performed an XP Restore. Still no boot. Tried bootfix - still no boot. Uninstalled all the fixes I found here - still no boot.(These boot drives are switched through the bios.)Any thoughts on how to proceed? I have a number of serialized programs on the XP system that are difficult to reauthorize. The guys in the Win 7 forum said to try here.1 person needs an answerI do too
