Win 7 pro n lock up with Yawcam
I'm using a camera by our feeder to watch the deer with a live feed. I use Yawcam to provide a HTML page from a computer closer to the feeder. Everything works fine, except today I decided to save a picture of some deer. I hit the printscreen key, and Windows totally locked up. Mouse, everything, not even CTRL-ALT-DEL would come up. I have all updates, and Yawcam is the latest version. I know one answer is not to hit printscreen, but is there another answer if I want to save a still image? Hi, Thanks for posting in Microsoft TechNet forums. Do you mean you cannot successfully capture an image directly from the Yawcam? Which format you want to save? I noticed that Yawcam can save 3 different formats: JPG, GIF and PNG. Were you running many applications when you capture the image? Try to only run Yawcam to check if it works. Since we’re not familiar with the Yawcam, I recommend also ask this question in Yawcam Forum: http://www.yawcam.com/forum/ Thanks for your understanding and cooperation! Thanks for the quick response. I am running only Internet Explorer with the one web page open. When I click printscreen, it only puts an image of the screen on the clipboard. I do know Yawcam can save in different formats, but I am using live feed over my LAN. I did post a question in the Yawcam forum. The Yawcam feed comes from a computer running XP PRO and it does not have any problems. After rebooting my Win 7 machine, I simply connected to the Yawcan live feed web page again and it is business as usual. (HTTP://196.168.1.106:8081/) My wife can view the web page at the same time. Her computer is running XP Media Center, and she can click printscreen and then get the image from the clipboard with no problem. My laptop is running Windows 7 Professional N, and I can click printscreen on it with no problems. UPDATE ON DATA: Windows Professional N with Media Center update, 4 gig ram, AMD Athlon 2.4 Ghz 64 X2 dual core 4600+, and a D-Link DIR-632 router in the house. My feed from the remote location gets here by using two EnGenius EOC-2610. I experience no problems with anything else. I do not put the stream over the Internet, only to my LAN.

Hi, After rebooting, the machine works as normal? Does the issue disappear? If so, it could be caused by some network transmission problems. It’s hard for troubleshooting because of rarely happening. If it’s not working yet. I recommend you use the Process Monitor before the seconds you click “capture” and end it after the image completed/uncompleted. Meanwhile, also use it on your laptop, which is also Windows 7 and works fine when capture. Comparing the process, you can check which steps are freeze. You can download the Process Monitor here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645 Best Regards, Miya Yao TechNet Subscriber Support in forum. Thanks for the suggestions and help. I was unaware of the "clip" feature in Windows 7. I tried clip, and it works like printscreen, except it does not lock up my computer. When I teach computer classes (mostly XP, office, and Internet), I always tell them there are always at least two ways to do anything in Windows, sometimes several ways to do the same thing. In this case, because one way does not work, use the other way and simply stop worrying about why the other way does not work. Life's too short to solve every problem when there are alternatives that work. Plus, I learned about a new feature in the process. Jon
