Win 7 beta Versions
Will there be a Win 7 beta in different flavors for us to test besides build 7000 or will we have the option of choosing and testing a particular Win 7 version when the RC is released?

Thank you, I'm building several very small (mini ITX form factor) desktop boxes with the Atom D945GCLF2 MB for folks who don't require much power to just do email, internet browsing, and word processing. A much cheaper PC version of the Mac mini. I would like to see which version of Windows 7 would be more appropriate, perhaps the starter or home premium. The Win7 ultimate beta build 7000 so far is working out great, but I'm sure that I will have to go with a lighter version.

HiIt sounds like those systems would be candidates for either the Windows 7 Home Basic or even the Windows 7 Starter Edition. The Starter Edition will, of course have the smallest installation footprint. It is also designed for systems such as the Netbook which is similar to what you described.Thank You for testing Windows 7 Beta Ronnie VernonForum Moderator

Maybe I'm wrong, but it sounds as if the original question is whether there will only be one version of Windows 7 RC (ie: Ultimate) or will you be able to choose various versions such as the Home Basic or Starter Edition. If that was not the original question, I would like to ask that now.

If Microsoft follows the same general game plan as they did for Vista's beta/RC cycles, and the Win 7 Beta, the Win 7 RC will likewise be offered to the general public as the "ultimate edition". Those on the MSDN list may be able to get keys that install as more restricted versions - ie. Home Basic, Starter, Professional, etc... Not sure about Technet Plus subscribers, but I would imagine they too can access additional keys.

Working very nicely for the basics of e-mail, Internet and the like. I have the system plugged intoa 40" LCD TV and watch shows from hulu.com on it.

Hello MikeP364 Thanks for the feedback. How is your experience with Hulu? Are you getting the streaming without much buffering?

Hi ScAwN You are correct that was my question. However, I interpreted the answer to be that a specific build will be for a specific edition, and keys to download those builds will be offered on various Microsoft sites depending on your status as MVP, developer or lay tester.
