Win 7 and NAS
I am having two issues with Win 7 and my NAS devices. First is when I reboot and windows finds previously open drives. It asks for login credintials (which is what I want) and this is fine. However, if I have more than one Explorer window open to the same mapped drive but a different folder, I must login into each window. Then when I do, any subsequent windows give me the 'could not connect' and that window closes. The second is a 'new' issue and one that I am having on my Vista 64 Ultimate as well as a Win 7 Home Premium 64. I can read the contents of the NAS through the mapped folder, but if I go to the device in the 'network' the mapped folder gives me a 'path cannot be found' error. This NORMALLY clears up within ten minutes, but is a real PIA when trying to open a file with some applications. The file open window through the mapped drive will show the desired file, however when I click to open it gives me the path not found error. Any help on either issue would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I would like to suggest you try to remember your login information, when you enter user name and password, check remember my credentials box and click OK to access share. According to your description, this new issue occurs to many Windows clients, I would like to suggest you try to the following methods to see how it works: 1. In windows 7, try Secpol.msc in start box and open Local security policy. 2. Expand "Local Policies" and select "Security Options" 3. Locate "Network Security: LAN Manager Authentication Level" in the list and double-click it. 4. Change the setting from "Send NTMLv2 response only" to "Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session if negotiated" 5. Network Security: Minimum session security for NTLM SSP Based (including secure RPC) Clients 6. Change the setting from "require 128 bit" to unchecked (No Minimum) 7. Click OK, and exit. Also, enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP: 1. Go to “Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections”. 2. Right-Click on the connection and choose Properties. 3. Click “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Version 4” in the list. 4. Click Properties, and then click Advanced. 5. On the Advanced TCP/IP settings windows, go to “WINS” tab. 6. Under NetBIOS setting, click “Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP”, and then click OK. Meanwhile, due to this issue may be related to the NAS settings, you could also contact your NAS device provider for further help Hope it helps.
