Win 7 Shutdown and Startup Problem
Hi Guys, We are encountering intermittent problem of our New PC’s and Laptops keeps on restarting after power shutdown . We did troubleshoot by changing all sorts of power scheme options but still same. We are still investigating whether its due to Hardware Problem (PC) or Software Problem (Win 7). Do your clients or colleagues running on Windows 7 environment having same problem ? You may escalate this case to your technical teams for solutions. Cheers and Many Thanks Joshua MY 08Nov2011

Are you sure you don't have the power button programmed to log off rather than shut down? Control Panel>Power options and click on the link that says "Choose what the power buttons do" Jerry

Hi, Before moving on troubleshooting this issue, I want to confirm the following with you. 1.When did this problem occur? 2.Did you install any third party software recently? 3.Din you install any external device or any hard device changing recently? First, please update all the drivers (include BIOS) then check the issue again. Also you may use MSE to scan the virus on your machine: 1. Download Microsoft Security Essentials from http://www.microsoft.com/security/pc-security/mse.aspx. 2. Install it. 3. Update the signature to the latest and preform a full system scan. In case this problem presists, please check the Windows Event log. If there any error message, please post it here. Open Event Viewer and check the System logs (Event Viewer- >Windows Logs -> system). If the issue persists, please collect the energy report for further research: 1. Click the Start Button, type "cmd" (without quotation marks), right click on the "Cmd.exe" in the search result list and select "Run as administrator". 2. Type " powercfg -energy" (without quotation marks) in the open window and press Enter Key. Upload the file(C:\Windows\system32\energy-report.html) via SkyDrive and post a link here. Then we could analyze the problem deeply. http://explore.live.com/windows-live-skydrive Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
