Win 7 RAID 1 frequently resynching
Hi All, Does anyone know what could cause my Window 7 Ultimate 32-bit RAID 1 to resynch frequently? I have my boot / system drive and all data mirrored by Win 7 software RAID. Page file is on a separate old WD Raptor (not mirrored). The mirrored drives are 2 pieces of 1TB Samsung Spinpoint F3. I have the hybrid sleep enabled and two users are using this computer in turns. Usually the one not using actively locks the computer and leaves his/her applications open and the other one just logs in with another user account. This leads to a situation that the one shutting down the computer have to accept the prompt with "Other people are logged on..." I'm just wondering, could the two users and possibly unsaved data or the hybrid sleep cause the RAID to resynch every now and then (too often anyways)... Thanks for help :) EDIT: The RAID array resynchronized successfully yesterday and I shut down the computer. Today when I started my computer, it started resynching.

I am running Window 7 Ultimate 64-bit and have the same issue with RAID constantly resynching. I do not have multiple users. I am unable to find in the System logs when or why this happens. I am not running Hybrid Sleep. I have turned off write-cache.

I have noticed this with software raid. It is very problamatic especially if you have mirrored the boot drive. Any fault that causes the system to crash or a blue screen of death forcing a shutdown, and you will have to wait ages for the drives to resync. I face certain problems when running the remote desktop application, being not very compatible with Catalyst control from ATI/AMD. This crashes the system and I hate the hours of wait after the system is restarted to ressync the drives. During the resync phase, the system becomes very sensitive, unstable and if used may crash again. I have to avoid using the system and let it finish its resynching to become stable before I can use it for anything else. I am now going to reinstall all software. THE BOOT DRIVE WILL NOT BE MIRRORED. IT WILL BE A HYBRID SEGATE 500 GB DRIVE. ALL windows software and other applications will reside on the unmirrored hybrid segate drive. The only drives I will software raid mirror are where my data resides i.e two WD ITB drives. I will let you know performance of the system after this rebuild. My gut feeling is avoid mirroring the boot drive as shown on some youtube videos. Cheers
