Win 7 Pro try to change network ID from Business Network to Home Network, restart to find NO changes
I'm trying to setup a home network that will be friendly to samba shares and I want to make sure I have established a Home Network and NOT a business network (under Computer name, domain, and workgroup settings>Change Settings>Network ID) I enter the options I want and am prompted to restart. Upon restarting, everything is as it was before (done this step several times). Also tried to change the workgroup name just to try it, and that reverted back to the default upon restart too. Please help!

Hi, To troubleshoot the issue, here are some suggestions you can try: 1. Please bypass the router or switcher and connect to the DSL Modem via wired cable, and then try to change the option again. 2. If the issue persists, please take the machine in another home network for a test. 3. Temporarily turn off firewall and disable IPv6 in Network Connections’ Properties. 4. If the machine was joined a domain, please clear the previous group policy. Thanks, Novak
