Win 7 Network Problems
I have a home network with 8 systems -- 3 Win 7, 2 Vista (Ultimate & Home Pro) and 3 XP systems. Yesterday the Win 7 machines started falling off the network (2 are Toshiba laptops -- a Satellite L655D-S5066 and a Portege R705 and one is a white-box built by a reseller friend of mine.) All three show the systems connecting to an unknown network when connected via cable (I can see them across my local network), but they cannot access the Internet. Needless to say, wireless isn't working at all. All three are unable to ping the router (D-Link DIR-655), but they can ping and access other systems. Neither of the laptops can access the network even when connected via Ethernet cable. I've done all of the normal Level 1 support tasks and most, if not all, the Level 2. Problem is, I'm not a networking expert and I don't know what I don't know. Network also has one D-Link DAP-1522 acting as a bridge that's working fine -- the network got cranky when I tried to add a second access point downstairs (connected via wired Ethernet). That's been pulled off the network for now. My router is running DHCP, but none of the other devices currently have that turned on. I've even connected two of the Win 7 systems directly to the router (bypassing switches, etc.) but still can't ping it. This clearly sounds like a DNS issue, but that doesn't seem to be the problem. At least, I cannot figure out where to fix that problem if it indeed is the culprit. Many thanks in advance. Happy Holidays to all. AFAB

Problem SOLVED. A reboot to safe mode with networking reset whatever was wrong. Thought I did that yesterday. Guess not. Thanks.
