Win 7 Mouse Bug?
I upgraded a self-built 64-bit Vista PC to Win 7 on 21 Oct 2009. All was fine until a week ago, when the mouse pointer disappeared [this was a MS optical mouse inserted into a PS2 socket]. Plugging another Labtec mouse into a USB socket restored the cursor but has left an instability, where c. 6 occasions per minute, the cursor arrow zooms off to other parts of the screen. Virus screen been clear. Anyone any suggestions?

Find out which labtec mouse you have from here http://www.labtec.com/index.cfm/service/listing/EUR/EN,crid=68,crid2=1763 (mostly at the bottom of that page) and download the driver for it. None of labtec's mice are Windows 7 rated, in fact half are XP or earlier operating systems rated while the other have are Vista rated, so in either case, you'll need to install the driver in compatibility mode or get a different mouse. See here how to install a driver in compatibility mode http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w7itprohardware/thread/80cae5ee-dc98-4a2f-8284-a1ab826059b7MCSE, MCSA, MCDST [If this post helps to resolve your issue, please click the "Mark as Answer" or "Helpful" button at the top of this message. Hi Bill963, I would like to suggest you update the BIOS and the chipset drivers, then reinstall the USB controllers to check the issue. If it does not work, I also would like to suggest you test the issue in Safe Mode and Clean Boot. What’s the result? Regards, Arthur Li - MSFT
