Win 7 IE8: Sometimes when i click into a link at google, it goes somewhere else; homepage irreversably changed.
I think i've been hacked!!! Sometimes when i click into a link in Google, it goes somewhere else, to a random place. My homepage has also been irreversibly changed. I have tried resetting IE8 in tools>advanced. I have Win 7 ultimate, and do not want to change browsers: I want IE8. I think a setup file did this.

Spyware infection is one of the possibilities. Please run the anti-spyware software installed in your system to perform a full scan. Also, you can install Microsoft Security Essentials to scan the system. If the issue persists, please provide the HiJackThis log file by the steps below: 1. Please download HijackThis from the following link: http://www.techspot.com/download317.html HijackThis is a tool to collect some system settings information which is useful for further troubleshooting. Please Note: The third-party products discussed here are manufactured by vendors independent of Microsoft. We make no warranty, implied or otherwise, regarding these products' performance or reliability. 2. Right click the downloaded “HJTInstall.exe” file and choose "Run as administrator". Provide administrator password or click “Allow” if you are prompted to do so. 3. Click the "Do a system scan and save a logfile" Button. 4. A Notepad window will appear, please click “File”, “Save As...” to save it as HJT.log (or other file name you like) on the Desktop and sent it to us. ++++++++++++ For your convenience, I have created a workspace for you. You can upload the information files to the following link.
