Win 7 Hone Edition Connectivity issues ( tried suggestions on forums)
Hello windows savvy professionals, my problems bout the same with what I've seen on the forums so far. I've got limited connectivity with my new rig, at best it connects but at abysmal speeds. I've already gone through gone through "msconfig" and disabled everything other than "Microsoft Services", this includes my anti virus and removed my firewall. In addition I've made sure to update all the drivers, and updated the firmware on my router. I've also restarted the computer in safe mode with networking...However, the connectivity issues have not been solved. I've safely ruled out signal strength too, I've got two other computers nearby (vista, and xp sp2 OS) along with my net book and mac book that can get max signal strength at the location. I'm just gonna go ahead and list my system specs: Intel P55 mATX motherboard Intel Core i5 650 2.66Ghz 8MB S. 1156 Kingstone 4GB 1333MHz (2x2GB) Western Digital 500g SATAII 32MB 7200RPM Black Sapphire Radeon HD5770 1GB Antec EarthWatts EA 640W D-Link DWA-556 Xtreme N PCI-E Microsoft Windows 7 Home Prem 64bit OEM Router: D-Link DIR-615 Wireless N router

Hi, Please try the following steps. 1. Disable IPv6 protocol a. Open "Network Connections" window, right click the "Local Area Connection" and click Properties. b. Clear the "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)" option. c. Click OK. 2. Configure the connection to obtain an IP address automatically a. Click "Start", input "NCPA.CPL" (without quotation marks) to Start Search bar and press "Enter". b. Right-click the network connection and click "Properties". If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. c. Click to highlight "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)" and click "Properties". d. Check "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically". e. Click "OK". f. Click to highlight "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" and click "Properties". g. Check "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically". h. Click "OK". i. Reboot the computer. 3. Verify whether there is the Bounjour service on the machine. If so, please temporarily disable it. what I can see is most probabbly any non microsoft service, device drivers, router configuration and signal strength are not causing this issue.Hence the situation narrows down to your computer. Now lemme know if the router connects using the draft n tech. or you have it mannully configured with an ssid ( network name) and passwoed( wep/wpa sec key) ( hence a, b or g)IF so also lemme know if you can connect with any other avilable non secure network ( probabbly it might be of some neighbour's.) and stay connected to it.remember your comp needs to be away from other lappys, cordless phones, microwave etc.use only one profile for the connection hence delete any profile that is stored on your computer and connect afresh. ( cont pannel-- net n sharing- view wireless net-- del all existing net)also as its a linksys router try to reduce becon interval below 50 mili seconds and set the threshold to 1000usual causes for limited conn in wireless are dropping signals ( hence intereference in signals )ip settings of nic ( it is not set to automaticlly obtain ip and dns)precence of more than one profile eor the wireless connection ( hence missmatching the wireless conn name and its passordtwo or more programs taking care of wireless ( wlan and hp or broacom wireless assistant)sec features of router as mac filtering and sometimes the IP range setup in the router.lemme know if thing work :)

hmm, my routers manually configured, i've even removed the wep kep on it. Not sure if i can connect to any other networks though, other networks do occasionally appear on the available wireless list but they're all password protected anyways. I think i might just reset my wireless adapter and work from there. Thanks for the suggestions.

Hi,If the issue persists, I suggest you reinstall the Network adapter driver in Compatibility Mode for a test. If it does not work, please restart the machine and post the following log. Collect the Netmon trace ========================= a. Download NetMon3.3 from the following website and install it on the computer http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=983b941d-06cb-4658-b7f6-3088333d062f b. Launch NetMon3.3. c. In the Microsoft Network Monitor 3.3 window, click Create a new capture tab … d. In the new tab, select all the Network Adapters in the Select Networks window. e. Then, switch to Network Monitor, press F5 to start NetMon. f. Try to download the large file. When it failed, go to step 7. g. Go back to the NetMon window and press F7 to stop the NetMon. h. Press Ctrl+S to save the Netmon file named test. i. Then, please upload it Thanks,Novak
