Win 7 Home Premium change HD with Backup
Hi folks, I need to change my internal drive. Actually I have a 500 GB SATA Drive and need to change it with a SSD 320 GB drive. I have made a disk image using the backp. All the data (the Windows Image folder) are 78Gb. When I try to restore on SSD drive the system tell me "there are no drive where restore the image" I suppose is because the restore are unable to recreate the same partition on destination SSD drive (there is not enough space) So I have tried to make a full backup off the original drive (profile and C:\), reinstall Windows 7 Home on the nuew drive and restore all data. The user profile are restored coreectly but all Program files and Windows folders are not restored (in the log I see who is unable to write on destination disk) So the question is: there is a system in windows 7 to backup a machine (complete with the system, program and data) and restore them on other disk? No, Windows 7 does not have that feature. You will have to use a third party utility such as Acronis to do as you want. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
