Win 7 Ent 64 Bit- Network Cable Unplugged
Hi Folks, I am running a dual-boot system with Windows 7 Enterprise x64 and Ubuntu Linux 10.04 64 Bit. When booting into Windows I cannot connect to my network, with the computer stating that the network cable is unplugged. This is not the case, when booting into Ubuntu it connects with no issues, ruling out the cable, NIC, and router. I searched through Technet and found people that have had similar issues, and their solutions did not work for me. I have tried the following to no avail: Disabling the power saving on the NIC Disabling TCP/IPv6 Setting the NIC to 100Full on both Speed & Duplex and WOL setting Disabling/Re-enabling NIC in both Windows and in the BIOS Updating the BIOS to latest version Updated the Driver with the latest from Realtek Reformatted and reinstalled Windows In another thread there was mention of a Bonjour service, and since I have formatted the machine there are no Adobe products on it, so this service was not present. I am using the onboard NIC on an ASUS Maximus III Formula. Please let me know what other steps I can go through in to resolve this issue. I have access to another computer with which I can download files and move things over if necessary. Thanks.

Hi, Thanks for your post! This situation is mostly caused by the driver incompatibility, therefore, please use the following steps: 1. Open Device Manager to confirm the network adapter is correctly installed 2. Unistall the driver in Device Manager and reinstall the driver from the official website of the manufacture 3. If the issue still occurs, please let me know the model of your network adapter Thanks for your cooperation! I am having the exact same issues. Dual boot Dell E6410 with an Intel 82577LM Gigabit NIC.Win 7 64 bit and Ubuntu 10.04 I have: updated to most current driver ruled out router and cables (work fine with other devices) Disabling TCP/IPv6 Setting the NIC to 100Full on both Speed & Duplex and WOL setting Intel diagnostics can communicate by making it blink when asked the interesting thing here is that it did work initially when i set both partitions up, now it does not at my work network. However, it does work if i take it home and plug it in to my comcast router. Thanks in advance for any advice,

Thank you for your help with this issue. I went through the steps advised and it still did not solve the issue. I quite frankly gave up on solving the issue, and I went out and spent a whopping $7 on a network card and disabled the onboard NIC.
