Win 7 Bitlocker - Missing Documents
My registry corrupted (my mistake) on Windows 7 64 bit install with Bitlocker active. After many hours I managed to disable and then unlock the drives and install a new instance of windows 7 on my C drive (it could not be repaired). My personal files (I am administrator as well) were on my D drive and these were encrypted as well but upon looking in the drive they were no longer visible. Once I enabled the folder options of: Show hidden files, folders and drives and disabled: Hide protected system operating files I could see my documents along with system files. It appears the files are seen as system files due to the crash and the requirement to do a complete new install. Is there any way to reset these files from system files to user files Thanks

Hi, I would like to verify if you can access these files? Go to check the files' properties. Right click the file -> General tab -> clear the hide option -> Advanced button -> clear the Encrypt contents to secure data. Also you can use attrib command to delete the files' property. It needs to open an elevated command prompt to run the command. http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/attrib.mspx?mfr=true Best Regards, NikiPlease remember to click "Mark as Answer" on the post that helps you, and to click "Unmark as Answer" if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
