WinPE and 802.1x deployment...
Hello:I am involved in a project to deploy new Vista PCs to our network using WINPE. We are using certificate authentication via wired 802.1xThe problem I am running into is that the PCs when booting up are unable to authenticate on to the network to access the resources on our W2003 servers due to the 802.1x authentication issue. We had no problem configuring our W2003 server components, our Nortel switches to make it work and, existing wired clients are able to authenticate fine. It is only the WINPE clients cannot due to the fact that the OS is not installed. What can I do to make this work? Thanks a million in advance for any help on this issue.- Greg M.

Hi Greg, after checking the symptom, it seems this is a general WINPE and Windows server authentication issue. As this forum focuses on Windows Vista specific issues, this inquiry would best be posted to the following newsgroups: http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx?dg=microsoft.public.deployment.desktop http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx?dg=microsoft.public.windows.server.networking The reason why we recommend posting appropriately is you will get the most qualified pool of respondents, and other partners who read the newsgroups regularly can either share their knowledge or learn from your interaction with us. Thank you for your understanding.
