Win7 x64 Pro changes audio output device
Hello, Looking at the Sound control in the Control Panel, I have two devices enabled: - "Speakers: Logitech USB Headset" - "Speakers: RealTek High Def. Audio". This is marked as the default device. Sometimes the audio output switches from the RealTek to the Logitech, with no action on my part. Occasionally, it switches back just as mysteriously. Otherwise, I have to go to Sounds, disable the Logitech device, and restart the application/web page providing the audio. Any ideas on what's going on, and how to fix this? Thanks.

Hi, Thanks for the post! Please try to unplug the Logitech USB Headset and then plug in, is the speaker turns to this USB Headset? If so, I suspect that the Windows identify the headset continually because of bad connection or unstable power supply. Thanks for the reply. I unplugged the USB headset, and it was removed from the list of devices in the Control Panel Sound applet. I plugged it back in, and it was added to the list of devices. At all times the "Speakers" have remained the default device. Why would Win7 change the output device for an application to a non-default device, seemingly arbitrarily? Regarding the power supply, it seems unlikely that a 1-month old computer would have power problems already (but maybe that's just wishful thinking...)

I have plugged the USB headset into different USB ports, and get the same result -- occasionally, Windows 7 changes the output from the (default) speakers to the headset. I can go in to Control Panel and disable the headset to restore output to the speakers.
