Win7 to Win7 (Home) shared folder permissions
Mixed Win7 Home 64 bit, W2k & XP local lan, no internet, all static IP addresses = defaults to Unidentified Public network & is unchangeable AFAIK From Win7 boxes, can access shared folders on XP & W2k boxes; can see shared folder names on other Win7 boxes, but get "Need permission" errors for contents. From XP boxes, can see Win7 folder names but get "Access Denied" errors for contents. Win7 boxes have 1 (original/Admin from install) user; same name as XP boxes, no password Can not change from Public to Home/Work network profile; both profiles set same: discovery ON, file/printer sharing ON, Public folder OFF (no difference if ON), file sharing 128 BIT, password protected OFF Permissions on each shared folder = Everyone FULL One Win7 box has AVG, but nothing on other boxes (no internet & I'm only user)

Hi, I would like to suggest you perform the following steps to share a file in Windows 7 to check if it works. Check the sharing permissions ============================= 1. Right click on the folder you want to share and click “Properties”. 2. Click the “Security” tab and “Edit” button. 3. Click “Add” button, type “Everyone” and click “Check Name” and “OK” button. 4. Highlight “Everyone”, check “Full Control” for “Allow” and click “OK”. 5. Click “Sharing” tab and “Advanced Sharing” button. 6. Check “Share this folder” box, click “Permissions” button. 7. If “Everyone” is listed, please highlight it and check “Full Control” for “Allow” 8. If “Everyone” is not listed, please click “Add” button, type “Everyone” and click “Check Name” and “OK” button. 9. After that, please repeat the Step 7. For more information, please read the following Microsoft article: Networking home computers running different versions of Windows What is the result?
