Win7 Robocopy and older versions of Windows
I like the idea of being able to do a multi-threaded file copy with the new version of Robocopy. Currently in my office, we're using robocopy to backup several file shares from one server, to another, prior to being backed up off-site. I'd like to be able to get the in-office file copies completed quicker, and it sounds like the Win7 robocopy might help. Will this version of Robocopy work on an older OS, such as Server 2003 (32-bit)? I'm not hopeful, to be honest, as I tried copying the new Win7 robocopy.exe to a Server 2003 system, and it wouldn't launch, it was reported as "not a valid win32 application."Thanks,Jason A.PS. I saw the thread titled "New Robocopy on Older Server OS?" and am actually looking at possibly using BITs for the file transfers to the off-site, rather than the Rsync we are currently using.

MS has released the Robocopy.exe: Robust File Copy Utility for Win2003 specially which is included in the Windows Server 2003 Resource Kit Tools. You can check the following link: Windows Server 2003 Resource Kit Tools Meanwhile, in Win7, Robocopy is a standard feature which is customized for Win7 kernel. I have checked the version of Robocopy on Win2003, it is 5.1.10.1010, but the version in Win7 is 5.1.10.1027. Copying the file robocopy.exe only to Win7 will not work on Win2003. Good Luck! Nina
