Win7 RDP connection to Win2000 issues
I can not cut and paste through an RDP session from Windows7 to a Windows 2000 Server. Also, its taking up 75% of my 100mb ethernet connection through RDP. When i log off the RDP to Win2000 server, it stops. When i connect to Win2003 or Win2008 through RDP, does not have any issues. I can see the bandwidth through Task ManagerOnly having issues with Win2000 server RDP.Anyone have this issue?

Windows 2000 server is a much older operating system. It is possible that this is a security feature. That would explain it working fine on newer versions.

We are seeing the same issue here on multiple Win7 RC machines, connecting to multiple Win2k servers. When we connect to a Win2k server, Windows 7's Resource Monitor shows the mstsc.exe (for Remote Desktop Connection) or mmc.exe (for Remote Desktops MMC snap-in) image sending well over 100,000 B/sec, even when the RDP session is idle. We've tried disabling the Local Resources options and setting Experience to Modem (56Kbps), and the same bandwidth usage is observed. We've confirmed via external means that this bandwidth is actually being consumed and is not being misreported by Windows 7. We can confirm that this excessive bandwidth usage does not occur when connecting to Win2k3 or 2k8 servers.

This has been answered in other forum posts, but it was a known issue that is fixed in later builds.Ned Pyle [MSFT] - MS Enterprise Platforms Support - Beta Team

I am running Win7 RC build 7100 and the same issue. RDP to win 2k server uses massive amounts of CPU and bandwidth. MInimizing remote desktop and bringing it back often leaves black screen. OVerall experience is bad, very sluggish. I noticed when using remote control to another rdp session inside the first remote session via tsadmin on the 2k server this works much better than the orignial session. Weird?
