Win7 Backup Fails - Says Drive is not NTFS
Hello, I'm posting this because I recently took the time to off-load all the data of my 1 TB external My Book hard drive so that I could reformat it, going from FAT32 to NTFS. After doing so, and putting all my data back on it, I successfully backed up my
Desktop computer (also NTFS). Previously I tried to do the backup and failed because it was FAT32, which was what prompted the formatting.
After doing this, I tried to also back up my sister's laptop on the external (also NTFS, a Dell Inspiron 1764 running win7) but am getting an error message that tells me that the external needs to be NTFS to proceed. In other words, it seems like the laptop
is mis-identifying the format of the external HD or something, because my homebuilt desktop PC backs up just fine to it. It's all very odd.
So, any ideas why the laptop might be giving me these issues?

Check to be sure adequate power is available to the backup drive as USB2 power is not quite enough.
