Win7 - Realtek RTL8187 Wireless - in divice manager does not show as network adapter but other divices
I run Window7 Ultimate on a Biostar G31D-M7 (ACPIx86 based) with E5200 @ 2.5Ghz. Lately I had incresingly connection problems. There is a Realtek ehternet adapter incorporated on my Biostar board. But I connect to the internet to my SMC wireless router with the Realtek RTL8187 Wireless adapter. For a while device manager picked up the RTL8187 in the category Network adapter but often dropped it and tried to connect through the ethernet adapter. Now Divice Manager loads the RTL8187 adapter into "other devices". It seems that due to this category I no longer can install the driver or the driver is no longer recognized. I need help. Is there anyone who has the answer. hopsob

1. There is a mechanism that change the connection to higher speed adapter. 2. Are there any traces in Event logs? 3. Try alternative drivers if the latest does not give good results. Regards Milos

Hi, What about disabling the Realtek ehternet adapter? I suggest you try the following suggestions to test the issue: 1. Update your BIOS, chipset. 2. Try reinstall the wireless driver and see it works.Tracy Cai TechNet Community Support
