Before upgrading my OS from Vista to Windows 7 I used a program called Snappyfax to send and receive faxes on my computer. It won't work properly with Windows 7 and I haven't been able to figure out why so I just started using the built in Windows Fax and Scan that comes built into Windows 7. It is simple and I like the interface, but do I have to manually start the Fax and Scan application every time I restart Windows 7 or can I set it so that it starts when Windows starts so that I don't forget to turn it on each morning when I start work on my computer? Snappyfax had such a feature but I can't find any similar option in Windows Fax and Scan. Though I do have a stand alone fax machine I prefer receiving faxes over my computer because, well, I am tired of paying for $35 ink cartridges for unsolicited lunch menus and vacation ads and like the idea that I can choose what to print or not print when I receive a fax.

Sure, just click on Start icon, expand All Programs, then right click and drag Windows Fax and Scan program to the Startup folder and let it create a shortcut there. Then just modify the shortcut to how you want it when it starts up.MCSE, MCSA, MCDST

I have Windows Fax and Scan set to receive faxes in my Vista system. I haven't set it up yet on Windows 7 but I'll bet it won't be that different.I can tell youthat you don't need to putit in your Startup folder to set it to receive faxes. Instead, do this:1. Bring up Windows Fax and Scan, then choose the Tools menu, and pick Fax Settings.2. In the General tab, check the [ ] Allow the device to receive fax calls, choose ( ) Automatically answer,and set the number of rings.That's it!The way Windows Fax and Scan presents itself, it's kind of like an eMail program, except that incoming faxes make up the messages.Please let me know if this helps you.-Noel
