Wifi connection timed-out Windows Vista
Hi,
Everytime I try connecting to a ZyXEL P-334WT router, I always get the timed-out response. I am currently using a Windows Vista Home Premium OS and oddly, the problem only happens with my laptop. The router works fine on other laptops. I will paste
below the event viewer log of my attempt to connect to the router.
Helper Class: Layer2 Security
Initialize Status: Success
Result of diagnosis: Problem found
Root cause:
Windows cannot connect to "Sarangani"
Wireless authentication failed because of a timeout.
Detailed root cause:
Layer 2 security key exchange did not generate multicast keys before timeout
Repair option:
View available wireless networks
You can then try connecting to "Sarangani" again or try connecting to a different network.
If you own or set up this network, reset your wireless router or access point and try connecting again.

Hi,
Please make sure the button for Wifi on the computer is turned on first. Let us perform the following steps to troubleshoot the issue.
Step 1
Try to do a firmware update for the modem from manufacturer’s website and check if it works fine.
Step 2
Run the Network Diagnostics . It will diagnose and repair network problems.

To do this, follow these steps:
1. Click on Start search box.
2. Type cmd, right click on cmd.exe, and select “Run as administrator”.
3. Type ipconfig, press Enter.
4. Please note down the Default Gateway address from the command prompt.
5. Type-in ‘ping’ <space> type the Default Gateway address noted down, press Enter.

Hi,
I have tried steps 1 to 3.
Step 2 - It didn't resolve anything
Step 3 - I'm not able to connect to the modem itself because it 'times out'.
I'm not sure if it's a compatibility problem with windows vista because I noticed another person using Vista also has difficulties connecting, but at times he can access the network. Is there any other diagnosis that I can try? Or a report logger?
Thanks!
