Wierd problem with mapping to server
We are running Win ME on our server and I use a "NET USE" batch file to map to the shared folders. I have never had a problem mapping to any of the folders from any machine running XP. I know have 1 machine with Vista Home Pre. on it. Of the 8 folders on the server I can connect to 4 of them. I cannot map to the rest. The settings on the server foldersare all configured the same way, the only difference being the folder name and password. Why I can map to some of the folders and not the rest is really baffling. It keeps telling me my user name and password are wrong yet they are not. I can see the folders from the Vista machine but just cannot access them. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi Scott C Reeve, Can you capture the screenshot of the error message for further research? Meanwhile, I would like to confirm if you need to use different user account and password to map different network folders. Thanks. I look forward to your reply.

There is not error message but a pop up box stating incorrect user name and/or password. Yes all the shared folders do have a unique user name and password. All the shared folders are in a main folder named personal. The personal folder is not shared but each folder in the personal folder is shared so each user can map to their own personal folder on the server. As I stated earlier I never had a problem mapping to them all in the past using XP. This morning I made the personal folder a shared folder, gave it a password and was able to map to it from the Vista machine so I can now see all the personal folders. This however does not explain why I could not map to them individually. The new setup will work but it is still baffling and I would still like to know why I can map to some and not others. Thanks for you help. PS: I do the backups for the system on my computer so that is the need to be able to map to the folders

By the way I could always see the folders on the Vista machine, I just could not access all of them. Now I can access them after making the personal folder shared.
