WiFi shows Limited but have full internet access. Cannot use Store because of Limited connection Store believes it is not connected to Internet.

I have a Windows 8 laptop I am attempting to get updated and then install 8.1 on. I have completed all outstanding Windows updates and now on attempting to open the store have found it believes:

"Your PC isn't connected to the internet. To use the Store, connect to the Internet and then try again"

Trying again does nothing. My connection shows "limited" but I can browse the web, ping google via name or IP etc, access local network resources etc.

How does Windows 8 determine when it is on a limited connection or not?

Why does the store follow the connections reported state? What sort of incompetent retard would design this in this manner?

Why when I cut or delete text from your text field does the font size of the paragraph below change? There are no font size options for this field - so why can the font size change...? How have the dozens of issues I have been saying over and over about for years now about the text boxes on these forums not even been acknowledged???

This has wasted 30 minutes of my day - when there is absolutely no issue to be fixing. I have internet, let me open the Store. MS's incompetence yet again wastes my time and ends up with me even more frustrated with your garbage products.

I should take this tablet, find the closest MS office and put it right through your windows for all the good Windows 8 is.

  • Reset the TCP/IP stack
  • Disable Wi-Fi adapter napping

Hi Allister Wade 2,

For the store app issue, please take the following steps to have a troubleshoot.
1.Run the built-in troubleshoot tool to have a diagnostic.
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Network and Sharing Center\Troubleshooting problems
2.Run the Apps troubleshooter to have a diagnostic.
Apps Troubleshooter.
3.Run "wsreset" to clear the Store cache.
4.Uncheck all the proxy settings from the Internet Explorer.
Tools\Internet Options\Connections\LAN settings

For the text issue, one issue one case. It is recommended to open another thread, it will be very clear and convenient as a reference for the person who will come across the similar issue in the future. Your understanding and cooperation is highly appreciated.
Please explain more details of the issue when you post a new case, it is better to attach a screenshot to understand the issue more clearly.

Best regards
