WiFi Light Turns Itself Off
COMPUTER I'm using an Acer Laptop with Windows Vista. The WiFi in my computer is Intel(R) WiFi Link 5100 AGN. My computer is roughly 1 to 2 years old. And the drivers in my computer are always updated through Windows Update. The orange light just above my keyboard indicates that the Wireless LAN is enabled. But I can turn it off manually by clicking the button and the Wireless LAN will be disabled. PROBLEM For the first 1 to 2 years, the WiFi light worked perfectly. But recently, the WiFi light seems to be not working properly. The WiFi light just shuts itself off seconds or minutes or (sometimes if Im lucky) hours later after I have switched on my computer and then my connection will be cut off. I will not be able to connect to the internet after that even if I try pressing the WiFi button on top my keyboard again to attempt switching it on. The only thing I can revive it back is to restart my computer again. GETS WORSE For the first few months when I had this problem, I just simply restarted my computer and then I had my light back on. But after a few months, the problem got worse. The second time I restart it, it turns off. The third time, it turns off as well. So I have to repeatedly restart my computer until my WiFi light is constant and doesnt switch off. Even when I'm loading my YouTube videos, the video just gets stuck halfway when the WiFi light turns off by itself. I can't be restarting my computer to get back my internet connection all the time. Please help! WHAT I HAVE TRIED... 1. When the WiFi turns itself off, the network icon beside my volume icon will turn from this to this . And when I my mouse over , the balloon box shows Access: Limited Connectivity. When I double click on , nothing appears. The menu which should show the all the WiFi connections available in my coverage doesnt appear. This icon somehow becomes unresponsive. 2. So I want to try Start Task Manager through Ctrl + Alt + Del. So Windows Task Manager appears. In Windows Task Manager, I click the Networking tab. After clicking the Networking tab, the Windows Task Manager becomes Not Responding. 3. I have also tried Uninstalling my WiFi driver under Device Manager and Scan for Hardware Changes and installed it back, but the problem still exists. When I try to Uninstall the WiFi driver after it has turned itself off, the Unistallation doesn't complete. So I can only Uninstall it when the WiFi light is constant and doesn't switch off after I have started my computer. But even after that, it doesn't work. Please help! Thanks!
