Wi-Fi connectivity
I cannot get an Asus R101 netbook, running Windows XP, to connect to my wi-fi network, which uses a Netgear DG834Gv2 router. The router is working OK because I can connect other devices to it. I have checked the settings and they are all correct. When I try to connect the netbook, I get a dialogue box that tells me it cannot be connected. Clicking on the box opens a window that shows the signal strength is excellent and has a small "click" button which then opens another window into which you type the network key. A graphic appears showing that the netbook is attempting the connection but after a minute or so it just stops and goes back to the window that shows the signal strength.Anybody any idea what's wrong please?1 person needs an answerI do too

this may be dumb, but check that you entered the password correctly (case sentitivty matters) and are connecting to the correct network. Are we allowed to have links in our signature? Requesting for official answers.

Has this netbook ever connected on this network? Is the netbook running SP2 or earlier? What kind of security does your wireless router use?The reason I ask is because one possibility is that your wireless router could be using WPA2 security. WPA2 was not supported in XP until SP3. There is a patch if you are running SP2 but it would be better to upgrade to SP3 if that were the case."The Wi-Fi Protected Access 2 (WPA2)/Wireless Provisioning Services Information Element (WPS IE) update for Windows XP with Service Pack 2 is available" < http://support.microsoft.com/kb/893357 >HTH, JW
