Why wont Outlook delete my messages ?
In a gmail IMAP account i have set up in Outlook any time i got to look for new message some of the previous deleted messages are still there. My setting in outlook are that once deleted and closed they are automatically dumped out, this unfortunately aint happening. It looks like the line goes tru them once deleted but the next day they're back as new ! I've tried dropping them to trash/deleted folders but it dont sort it. Another gmail account seems to not have this problem,is it worth deleted the 1st account and setting it up again ? Cheers or any repliesShazbot is the 1 TrophyManager 1 person needs an answerI do too

IMAP doesn't usually delete mail, just mark it for deletion. This is indicated by an overstrike running through the Inbox entry for the message. When you click Edit>Purge, the message is then deleted. With some versions of Outlook (Outlook 2007 and above), you can confugure Outlook to automatically purge messagaes marked for deletion when you leave a folder or exit Outlook. You cna configure any Outlook to hide the messages you've marked for deletion so you don't see them when you've marked them.Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook]
