Why won't a backup delete
I shall receive my purchased version of W7 in a few days so these are the final few days of the RC before it is wiped. I have just tried my trusty Norton Ghost and it worked well. Wishing to gain space on my USB backup disc I decided to delete a previous disc image backup created with the W7 backup program. All I got was An unexpected error is keeping you from deleting this folder Error 0x80070570 the file or directory is corrupted and unreadableNow I am not worried about this since I shall be using Norton Ghost but it does pose 2 questions 1. Is the file really corrupted - which does not say much for W7 backups? 2. Corrupted or not, why can't I delete it?

Hi AnotherDaveH, This issue mostly can be cuased by a corrupt folder/file. Could you please take following suggestion to troubleshoot the issue?I have following suggestions: Suggestion 1: Please try to delete the files in Safe Mode. Suggestion 2: Please check disk by running CHKDSK Suggestion 3: Please backup important files on the external hard drive ,and then format the harddisk directly. There is a similar issue:http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/itprovistasetup/thread/ed1fe343-dbdf-4011-99e0-e9a7b7065e50/Hope it helps.

Thank you for your replyHowever, prior to your post I had opened up the backup directory and managed to delete all but two small files (can't remember what they were) which I thought I could live with. Later, when in XP, I found I could delete the remaining files quite happily.
