Why will IE 9 TRM not launch a Flash video in a new window?
We're experiencing an issue with the IE 9 and Protected Mode. We have HTML content that is copied to a DVD. When the user clicks on the link, it launches a Flash video into a new browser window. However, with IE 9, if Protected Mode is enabled, there is only a blank window. Disabling Protected Mode resolves this issue. Files used to launch the video include HTML, MP4 video, shockwave flash object, and Jscript Script file If all of the content is copied locally (e.g. C:) , the Flash video launches fine, in additionally from our website when Protected Mode is enabled. So, why will it not run when the content resides on a DVD?

Hi, Thanks for the post! The Proctected Mode builds on the new integrity mechanism to restrict write access to securable objects like processes, files, and registry keys with higher integrity levels. When run in Protected Mode, Internet Explorer is a low integrity process; it cannot gain write access to files and registry keys in a user's profile or system locations. If you the content is contained locally, it doesn't need to write access again for some parts. That's the reason you can open it. Meanwhile, I would like to share a document with you, it can help you understand how the Internet Explorer works under protected mode. I have the same issue, but it is not consistent over different computers. On one computer it works fine, from another it doesn't. All versions of ie and flash are the same, and all settings are the same. What would cause it to work fine on one machine and not the other?
