Why is my wireless internet working much slower than on other laptops in my house?
Where do I start... Well the wireless internet on this laptop (Asus eee pc 1215b) is running at the speed of 0.57mbps and upload speed is 3.5 or something... my internet is comcast 16mbps i believe, on my other laptop that is also running on wireless internet had a speed of 19.87mbps and upload 3.5mbps. Both laptops are windows 7, well I also have more laptops but it's the same speeds on the other ones (faster speeds). My router is Netgear WNR834b, no password on my internet since I thought it might have been a case of being lost on the password connection. Also I just reset the router but it wasn't a hard reset i think since it went back to the same software as it was before (1.03.5). I am pretty sure it is the routers problem since I just went over my friends house and the internet was flying there. ( Also I had a problem with being close to the router at my house with this laptop since the internet would get lost when I got too close to the router, but then when I stepped away a couple feet from it it caught it right back, but the problem has solved itself I think since I am sitting right near the router right now.) If there is anything else that I need to provide to solve this case please ask I am eager to finally get normal speeds on this laptop since it takes ages to open up websites... I appreciate it, Thanks :)

Hi Strepio, From your description, it seems this issue occurs to either Windows 7 or other Operating system. As you assumed, it is probably a router problem instead of system settings. Please understand as this forum focuses on Windows Vista specific issues, this inquiry would best be post to the router manufacture's forum or involve their engineer for a check. The reason why we recommend posting appropriately is you will get the most qualified pool of respondents, and other partners who read the forums regularly can either share their knowledge or learn from your interaction with us.
