Why is my internet slower than everybody else in my house? It used to be as quick, if not one of the quicker computers on the net...
but now it is really slow to open pages. We just had our modem changed and have configured everybody else to they new modem etc but my computer just hasn't responded well!! I have done an IP config and get the following which I believe may be a reason it is so slow?! I really am no expert so desperately need some help! I am running on Windows Vista. Hi, instead of just an "ipconfig", do an "ipconfig /all" and lets see the outcome Also, issue the same command in any of the "faster browsing computers" and lets see.Tunde Abagun MCP,MCSA,MCTS,MCITP en p "for the love of Computers"

from the ipconfig results, there seems to be nothing wrong configuration-wise.check the wireless signal indicator, is it weak,or strong. if weak,i suggest u move closer to your router and see if there's a difference in speed. if the signal is strong, and you'r still experiencing speed issues, connect directly to the modem and see if the problem persists,..lets know the results...Tunde Abagun MCP,MCSA,MCTS,MCITP en p "for the love of Computers"

I have good signal strength and I've tried moving closer but still no luck! Really confused tbh! One thing I would say is my computer is telling me recently my firewall for avg is turned off as well as windows. Even though when I click on avg it tells me my firewall is enabled. Could it be a firewall issue?

the thing is, if your firewall is intentionally turned off, then it should even be faster. but its like your firewall was turned off without your knowledge, which means you might have a malicious software running.disable all browser addons and see if it makes a difference.if not, download and run trojan remover here the reason i didn't consider that previously was because you said it started when you changed your modem.just try the above and lets see..Goodluck Tunde Abagun MCP,MCSA,MCTS,MCITP en p "for the love of Computers"

I've got the firewall back running and showing as running. Tried what you mentioned but still no luck. When I load a page, for example this one, I get the loading symbol for about 25sec and then it will load in a flash. Really strange and frustrating!

Hi, Is it only slow on opening IE pages? If so, reset IE to check it out. Internet Options->Advanced tab-Reset... I've tried on all browsers and it's still unbearably sluggish! Any other suggestions?!
