Why is Windows 7RC slower on DSL than XP
Why is Windows 7RC slower on DSL than XP? I am getting noticeable slower DSL speeds with RC than XP. Is there a way to change that? I also notice that 7 RC runs cooler than XP, I have a Athlon 64 dual core CPU 5000processor. Should this question be under performance? Please move if applicable. James H McDonald

James - Keep in mind that speed is not a fixed constant on the Internet. It fluctuates (sometimes quite wildly) depending on traffic on the "net...But... To answer your question - about the only thing that could affect the situation would be drivers. This is still technically a beta and there are bound to be some issues with drivers not quite delivering the same performance as others. The RC is where a lot of the fine tuning of these types of issues is handled. On the other hand, my Athlon 64 3400+ based system is right on par with my XP box which has an Athlon 64 X2 when it comes to speed tests from 2wire.com. They're very competetive. Both motherboards I believe have an Nforce 4 NIC built in. Your mileage will, no doubt, vary with various chpsets, NICs and other hardware.
