Why does Internet Explorer not work as default browser in the start menu in window 8 mode?
I have been using window 8 pro 64 bits but internet explorer does not work in window 8 mode in the start menu as a default browser.

1. This is by design. Perhaps Windows 8 designer team would be addressed with this question.

2. Fastest way to IE in desktop is via pinning IE to quick launch bar

3. In EU countries we have an option that brings MS update, namely the browser choice:

Hi anil agnvir,

The steps of how to set Internet Explorer working in window 8 mode in the Start menu as a default browser as shown below:

Step 1: Set IE as the default browser

  1. Typedefaultin the Start menu, although there is no space for typing.
  2. Select Default Programs.
  3. Select Set your default programs.
  4. Select Internet Explorer in the left pane, and then click Set this program as default in the right pane.
  5. Click OK.

Step 2: Set IE in the start

  1. Open IE on the desktop.
  2. Click Tools in the Menu bar.
  3. Click Internet Options and the click Programs tab
  4. Uncheck Open Internet Explorer tiles on the desktop in the Opening Internet Explorer section
  5. Click OK.
