Why does CHKDSK not run when my computer reboots?
I got some software to move my system files around so that I could make a partition, but the software told me it had to do this while in the boot process, so i accept its request to restart, it restarts without doing anything. I contact PerfectDisk's support and they tell me to run CHKDSK, because it will find and fix errors, but this does not run either! The computer just restarts normally! Why does this happen?Windows 7 32-bit.Thank you.

First, please let us know when the issue began to happen. If the issue just happened recently, you can try system restore to fix your issue. You issue can occur if the PerfectDisk program modified some system files, so that the CHKDSK command failed to work while booting. As there is the build-in feature to manage your hard disks, you can refer to the following link:http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Managing-hard-disks-recommended-links As this point, you'd better to run SFC to check if any system files are corrupted . You can refer to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833/en.If you want to enable check disk after rebooting, you can follow these steps: 1. Open the Start Menu. 2. Input regedit in Start Search, and press Enter. 3. Click on the Continue button in the UAC prompt. 4. In regedit, go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager Note: Make a backup for this registry first, right click on "Session Manager", click "Export", Select "Desktop" in the Save in box and type backup in File Name, then click Save. 5. In the right pane, right click on BootExecute and click on Modify. 6. Highlight the code below, then right click on it and click on Copy. NOTE: If the hard drive you want to run chkdsk on has a different driver letter than C: , then substitute C: with your drive letter instead. autocheck autochk *7. Clear the box, then right click on a empty area in the box and click on Paste to copy the code above into it. 8. Click on OK. 9. Close regedit. 10. Restart the computer to run chkdsk at startup. Good luck! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------John
