Why do my programs lose focus for no reason since the last Windows XP Update?
I can be right in the middle of typing or playing when the program, any program, will lose focus. I have to click somewhere in the program to get it to come back. I am using Windows XP Service Pack 3 on 4 different computers. All of them have the same issue. One is a work computer, one is a gaming computer, one is a laptop, and one is a gaming laptop. They all run different software, anti-virus, and are on at different times of the day. Still I have the same exact issue and it all started with the download and update from Microsoft last week or so. Nothing else is running in Task Manager Applications. When watching processes sorted by CPU usage System Idle seems to be most active. I sat watching the processes from about 20 minutes and can not determine which one is causing it. What ever is causing it it seems to be about every 10 to 12 minutes.3 people need an answerI do too

Same issue, same time frame, same sp, same headache. Something in the background steals focus, but there is no active window that receives the focus. I can have word running and nothing else and without warning, word no longer has focus and I'm typing away into some other application. Word is still visible, but greyed out at the top. A simple click anywhere in the window gets focus again and I'm good until it happens again. Only difference with mine is that it doesn't happen every 10-12 minutes. I can probably (It just did it...I was typing this and the text stopped...I looked up and internet explorer wasn't active...a simple click and I'm active and typing again) as I was saying, I can probably go a good 30 minutes without losing focus, but I can also lose focus in 5 minutes or less. So my time range is about 5 - 30 minutes. It isn't a big deal in word, but I also play dungeons and dragons online. Nothing sucks more than being in the middle of a battle and the window minimizes to the task bar. It takes a few seconds for it to completely minimize and another couple seconds to manually restore. I'm usually dead by then.I've tried going through msconfig and unchecking everything not necessary. I've also loaded tweakui and checked the box to keep programs from stealing focus as well as modifying the registry to do the same, but nothing changes.Any help would be greatly appreciated.UPDATE: If you have recently upgraded to AVG 9.0, check HERE.

My periodicity is between 50 & 60 seconds. I lose focus from any and all applications. I can't tell if the focus goes anywhere except the desktop background. I am running XP, and this only started since the latest Windows update (~early August, 2010).
