Why do I have no advanced tab in my network connection properties box in Windows 7 Prof. 64 bit ?
I have been having issues with intermiten intenet connection losses. I have a direct lan connection to modem and modem straight to phone. My ineternet provider has gone over their stuff for a month, found a few possible problems and fixed them. They also sent me a new modem for free. The last suggestion they had was to go to the Network Connection Properies click on the advanced tap and change the speed setting. I have seen this fix also in several of the forums. Unfortunately I do not have an advanced tab visible and I am the administrator. What do I do to get it back?

Evidently you are not at right step. Right click network connection properties - select option to configure your network adaptor - advanced tab should be accessible.

There is no advandecd tab on that page. If you select ipv4 and click properties, that page has an advanced tab. Bill

Aparenty the automatic causes a problem with verizons network. I found basically the same fix they offered in help for network issues, again I have no advanced tab to try this fix. To change the link speed for your network adapter On your computer, click the Start button , click Control Panel, type view network connections in the search box, and then click View network connections. Right-click your network connection, and then click Properties. On the Networking tab, click Configure. Click the Advanced tab, and in the list under Property, click Link Speed & Duplex. Under Value, choose the 100 Mbps Full Duplex option, and then click OK. Charles W Cornett Jr

Hi , You can also check the NIC driver properties in the Device Manager. Click Start, type devmgmt.msc in the search bar and press enter to open Device Manager. Expand the Network adapters and find the NIC. Double click it to open the properties. Please understand that not all the drivers installed on your system have the Advanced tab in Properties. It is not decided by system but depends on your NIC driver. I suggest you update the NIC driver to the latest version to check see the result. Hope it helps.Tracy Cai TechNet Community Support

I do apreciate the attempts at helping me and I have tried updating the drivers. So far not much luck. I still end up resetting the modem and restarting the computer a few times a day. I have had windows 7 installed for over a year with no issues until a few months ago. Chuck

Hi Charlcornett, To narrow down the culprit, you may test another computer in the same network environment. If the issue still persists, you may check the issue from the ISP side. Tracy Cai TechNet Community Support
