Why are you forcing users to upgrade to 8.1?

After trying my best to avoid upgrading to the buggy win8.1, after a harmless restart, i found that i was forced to upgrade to windows 8.1.  Previously i had win8 pro, which was fine, except for if you "refreshed" your PC, it simply compiled all current files on C:\ and put them in a windows.old file, effectively doubling your harddrive usage.  Now, i am stuck with 8.1, after being bent over the barrel training day style.  Who on earth approved for this kind of procedure at microsoft?  I picked windows because i like being able to make my own choices, but as of the last few years, you guys are becoming more and more like retard apple.

if only linux had the user base and the availability that windows is throwing away, i would switch in a heartbeat.

Hi,

Personally, I think Windows 8.1 is an improved version of Windows 8 and contains many new features and enhancements which you can find in the link below:

https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/dn140266.aspx

But if you don't want the get the upgrade, you can avoid this by checking the two updates:

  • KB2871389 (a prerequisite for Windows 8.1 upgrade)
  • KB3008273 (enables automatic Windows 8.1 upgrade)

Check for updates, then hide the two updates.

Since you've already in Windows 8.1 now, I suggest that we can enjoy the newer version OS, if you want to back to Windows 8, then refer to this link

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-HK/windows-8/restore-refresh-reset-pc

you may need a Windows 8 recovery partition or insert a Windows 8 installation media.
