Why Windows 7 does not boot after using Disk Cleanup?
I performed a Disk Cleanup on my C drive (I also cleaned the old system restore and shadow copie files), I checked all options and it reported that there were 50GB of Queued Error Reporting files. It took a while to perform the cleanup using 100% CPU. After the cleaning all my programs were gone, all the shortcuts and now Windows 7 does not BOOT anymore, it says that a file or device is not found. What went wrong?

Hisehnbadt,This issue occurs if you had run a registry cleaner (which may have wiped out the Disk Cleanup hander registry values) before. This causes Disk Cleanup to wipe out the entire partition. Thanks a lot Ramesh, your article has been very helpful. Unfortunatly I guess I have no choice but to reinstall Windows 7. Next time I notice huge ammount of space to be cleaned in Disk Cleanup I will run your registry fix before rebooting. I indeed ran a registry cleaner before Disk Cleanup, CCleaner (probably not the culprit) and Wise Registry Cleaner. I will report this issue to WiseRegistry Cleaner. I've never had problem running those registry cleaners in XP. Thanks again.

I never use disk cleanup anymore. I did once in Vista and then Hibernation stopped working. I use CCleaner, a far superior tool.Gary
