Why 2 profile pictures of the same userid on Vista login page?
Hi guys, I've got a really irritating problem which I hope you gurus can help me out on. Please. My new laptop has got only one user account, which doubles up as an Administrator acc. However upon startup or when calling the OS back out from hibernation mode, I am greeted with 2 identical pictures of the same userid. It doesnt matter which one i click (left or right icon) i can still get in to Vista provided i type my password correctly. seems to me there are 2 instances of my login, both pointing to the same account. i verified this by changing the login user name, eg. A to B, and both pictures reflect the change to B. If it helps to know, i've got omnilock pass (for fingerprint recognition login) installed on my com. but this has got a separate login prompt that pops up between both icons mentioned above. Please can anyone, someone please help me resolve this problem. I'd like only 1 login pic/icon since i've only got 1 userid on this PC. Interestingly i've got another exact same laptop at home with the same specs (used by my sister), but it doesnt have this problem so i'm pretty sure its a 'fixable' problem! thanks!

Hi, Thank you for the post. I performed researches in our internal database and noticed that this is a known issue whose cause is OmniPass fingerprint reader software. Thus, please uninstall fingerprint software and reboot the system to check the result. If the issue resolves after uninstalling the software, I suggest contacting OmniPass to check if there is any related update to troubleshoot the issue. Hope it helps. I researched this problem because I was seeing 2 icons for each user when I logged in also. I found the following post on the MSDN forumswhere someone emailed Omnipass about the problem, and the answer they received. I have copied it below (original URL: http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2148032&SiteID=1): "Actualy this is a Vista update related issue and not from Omnipass, otherwise it would have happened before doing the latest Vista updates. Please copy the link below into yor browser windows and select save and save the file to your hard disk and then run it and reboot your computer. This should correct the registry entries the Vista update duplicated.www.softexinc.com/download/UninstMSPwdProv.exe" I downloaded the file and ran it from my desktop. After rebooting the duplicate icon was gone. I hope this helps. Dwight Smith
